Graduation and commencement are typically confused as the same event. Graduation is the process of being awarded a degree. Commencement is an event the college provides free of charge to students at the end of the spring semester.

Only students who have applied for graduation are allowed to participate in commencement ceremonies. Students who will have completed their BAT, AA, AS, AAT or AAS degree requirements during the following semesters are eligible to participate in the May commencement ceremony: Summer 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 2022, or Summer 2022.

If you are a Veteran or active duty military, you may wear your dress uniform instead of the traditional cap and gown if you choose. Military stoles will be provided by the college at Grad Fest. You must indicate branch of service on the commencement participation form.

You will be provided with a timeline for commencement day at Grad Fest. This includes arrival time. Please keep in mind that traffic will be heavier than normal around the college on commencement day. Be sure to allow yourself extra travel time, as well as time to find parking.

It's important to note that trains frequently block the intersection of Old Angleton Road and College Blvd.

All participants and guests should park in the Blue Lot in front of the Dow Academic Center. Red Lot parking will be reserved for special guests, staff and faculty.

No. Actual degrees are not awarded at the commencement ceremony. Graduation status will be reviewed by the Registrar's Office and you will be notified when diplomas are ready for pick-up via your Brazosport College email address. (Typically eight weeks after commencement.)
