Graduation vs. Commencement

Graduation and commencement are typically confused as the same event. Graduation is the process of being awarded a degree. Commencement is an event the college provides free of charge to students at the end of the spring semester.

Whether or not you choose to attend the commencement ceremony, you still need to apply for graduation. Actual degrees are not awarded at the commencement ceremony and graduation status will not be reviewed unless you apply for graduation.

Applying for Graduation

1. Check Degree Requirements

Ensure that you have met all degree requirements by performing a degree audit on MyBC or reviewing degree requirements in the Brazosport College Online Catalog.

2. Clear Holds

Transcripts and diplomas will only be released to students with no holds on their account. Log onto MyBC to view your account status.

3. Apply for Graduation

Download the Graduation Application using the button below and submit it to the Registrar's Office. Once your application has been received, you will be notified of your degree status via mail 2 - 4 weeks after your submission. You cannot graduate without submitting an application.
