What resources are there to help me through college?

From advising to free tutoring, Brazosport College has the resources you need to get you successfully through your classes. Is it better to go to a Community College first?

Community colleges are generally more affordable than four-year institutions and typically have fewer restrictions when applying for admission. With smaller class sizes and a variety of resources, we offer support to help you stay successful. Our 70+ degree and certification options have a wide range of availability to fit your schedule - day or night, on-campus or online. Brazosport College provides you with the tools you need to jump right into the workforce or transfer to a four-year university.

Am I eligible to attend BC? How will I know if I'm accepted?

Brazosport College is an open-enrollment institution, meaning once your application has been submitted and processed, you're accepted. To get started, submit your application through www.goapplytexas.org. Once received, the Admissions Office will contact you via the email address you provided on your application.

Contact from the Admissions Office may take 24-48 business hours from the time you apply.

Where do I start?

What is the difference between applying and registering?

Applying is the process of completing an application to become a student at Brazosport College via www.goapplytexas.org. You must also submit all required documentation: previous transcripts from other institutions, vaccination information for students under the age of 22, and proof of Texas residency. For more information, you can visit www.brazosport.edu/choose.

Registering means you are signing up for the classes of your choice. You can register online through the student portal, "myBC" or in-person by visiting an Enrollment Specialist during office hours.

How do I apply for Admission?

What is Priority Registration, and when do I register? How do I find my Registration date?

Priority Registration is based on earned credit hours and allows students who qualify to register ahead of open registration. Your registration date is based on the total credits earned at Brazosport College, not including the current semester. Registration dates will be posted to the Brazosport College homepage and your myBC account.

Where can I register?

Once your registration date becomes available, you can register for classes online through your myBC account, or you may register in person with an Enrollment Specialist during business hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The Admissions Office is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Is there Registration Assistance for Veterans?

You can meet with the Veterans Services Counselor to discuss possible benefits and other services. Please bring your DD214 to apply to use your GI or Hazelwood benefits.

Do I need a Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination?

Brazosport College students under 22 years of age are required to show proof of an initial meningococcal vaccination within five years from the first day of the school semester unless the student qualifies for an exemption.

How do I Register for New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation will provide you with valuable information about Brazosport College as well as introduce you to college resources, culture, and policies. You can learn more about orientation and sign up by visiting the New Student Orientation page.

How do I Pay for Classes?

You can pay your tuition and fees online through your MyBC account or in person at the cashier's office. You can also view available payment plan options via the cashier's office website.

When is the last day to add or drop classes?

Students may add or drop courses from their schedules within a limited time period each semester. Depending on your classification and when you are wanting to add or drop a class, there may be specific criteria you must meet. Visit the Admissions website to learn more.

How do I submit my transcripts?

Electronic Transcripts

Brazosport College can receive electronic transcripts sent via TREX, SPEEDE (EDI), PARCHMENT, OR ESCRIPT. Please note we do not accept faxed or emailed transcripts.

Paper Transcripts

Students can mail an official, sealed copy of their transcript to:

Why do I need my BC transcript?

Your transcript is a record of all the academic courses you have taken with Brazosport College. Transcripts include your courses, grades, GPA, attempted courses, dates of attendance, and any degrees or certificates awarded. This record is typically used for purposes such as employment, transferring to another institution, insurance, background checks, and military service.

How do I apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships?

Your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be completed via studentaid.gov. The Brazosport College school code is "007287". Assistance filling out the FAFSA is available at the Career and Guidance Center. Visit our scholarship site or Financial Aid website for more information.

What if I have Technical Problems with my Student Accounts?

If you are experiencing issues logging into your student accounts, our IT staff is available to assist you. You will need your Brazosport College Student ID Number and Pin Number. (This information should be emailed to the email account you provided when you applied to Brazosport College). You can contact the IT department via www.brazosport.edu/it.

Do I need to obtain a Student ID and Student Account Information?

You will need proof of payment or payment plan to obtain your student picture ID (available in the library) and student account information from IT (available in K Wing).

Do I need to Meet with an Advisor?

Once placement tests are completed, you must meet with an advisor to discuss your scores, degree planning, and registration for the upcoming semester. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please refer to the Counseling/Testing Page. An e-counselor is also available to assist you.

Are there Services for Students with Disabilities?

Students with disabilities who need an accommodation or modification for placement testing and course accommodations can visit the Disability Services website or contact our Disability Services Counselor, Phil Robertson at Phil.Robertson@brazosport.edu or call 979-230-3040.

Are there any Required Documents and Testing?

Placement testing, also known as the TSI exam, is required for all incoming, degree-seeking students. If you have test scores for the ACT, SAT, TAKS, or STARR tests that are less than five years old, you may be exempt from TSI testing. You can learn more about the TSI Exam on the TSI Testing website.

Incoming students can look up TSI test dates online. However, you must register for a TSI exam at the front desk in the BC Lobby and pay a $29 fee at the cashier's office. We do not offer online payment options. TSI exams are free for all dual credit sophomore, junior, and seniors except for seniors in their spring semester.

Bring a photo ID with you when you take your TSI exam.

How do I become a Student Worker?

Students interested in becoming a student worker must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete an employment application from Human Resources. Learn more about the requirements at the Career and Guidance Center.

How do I withdraw from Brazosport College?

Students who wish to withdraw (drop all courses for which they are enrolled during a specific semester) from the college must meet with an Enrollment Specialist located in BC Central.
