COVID19 Update for Employees: April 1
SUMMER AND MAY MINIMESTER COURSES
Summer courses are coming! Brazosport College will offer online courses for May Minimester and the Summer terms. We anticipate providing face-to-face instruction for workforce crafts and science labs with appropriate social distancing, so you will be able to register for welding, pipefitting, automotive, electrical, and other courses in summer. As with everything else in these uncertain times, plans may change depending on circumstances, so check your BC email every day.
SPRING SEMESTER FACE-TO-FACE COURSES
Are you missing your welding torch? your pipe threading machine? your multimeter? your medical kit? For everyone learning a trade that can't be taught online, Brazosport College expects to be able to resume face-to-face instruction in mid-May, and we expect that you will be able to finish your spring semester classes by June if not earlier. We will keep you informed as conditions change, but for now, stay safe and stay tuned.
Plan ahead and save time by reaching out to an advisor using the College’s e-counselor services at ecounselor@brazosport.edu. E-counselor services are available from Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays.
Dual Credit students needing registration assistance should contact their dual credit counselor. More information can be found at www.brazosport.edu/dualcredit.
To register online, students can use Brazosport College’s registration system, myBC, which can be found at www.brazosport.edu/mybc.
For more information, visit www.brazosport.edu/choose or call the college’s main switchboard at (979) 230-3000.
CHILDREN’S CENTER REMAINS CLOSED
Following Governor Abbott’s recent announcement concerning school closings, along with President Trump’s announcement to extend social distancing, the Children’s Center at Brazosport College will remain closed until Monday, May 4, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. During this closure our families will not be charged tuition. We hope to see you all soon and appreciate your understanding.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION INFORMATION AND RESOURCES
The United States Department of Education has created a website providing guidance for schools and school personnel to plan, prepare, and respond to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Visit www.ed.gov/coronavirus to learn more.
To provide relief to student loan borrowers during the COVID-19 national emergency, federal student loan borrowers can be placed in an administrative forbearance, which allows you to temporarily stop making your monthly loan payment. Read the borrower Q&As on the Federal Student Aid website to learn more, and contact your loan servicer to find out your specific options.
