In accordance with Governor Abbott’s Executive Order on July 2, 2020 regarding face mask/face coverings, guidance from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), as well as recommendations from federal and local authorities, Brazosport College has established a confidential individual online daily health screening questionnaire and a requirement to wear a face mask/covering while on the College campus in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday, September 4, 2020, shortly before noon, an individual entered the Brazosport College lobby and was asked to complete the health screening questionnaire. He refused. The individual was then approached by uniformed Brazosport College Police Officers and asked to provide identification. He repeatedly refused.

The individual was informed if he did not comply with the established safety protocols and provide identification, he had to leave the campus. He refused to leave and was subsequently arrested. This individual was not arrested for failure to wear a face covering, but on another charge.

Brazosport College is working diligently to protect our students, employees, and community. The College has developed protocols in order that we can remain open for business providing the highest quality of education for our students and community.
