Safety administrators are trained in the applicable laws and are certified in key areas. Petrochemical plant sites and contractors are required to have a safety coordinator or technician on site.
Many Gulf Coast chemical plants and their contractors require as a minimum the Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) designation from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) to work as a safety technician/ coordinator in the plants.  The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Chapter in Freeport Texas collaborates with Brazosport College (BC) to use NCCER training materials, including the Safety, Health and Environmental Management Program.
