Basic Life Support (CPR)

This course is a two year certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) and does not include First Aid. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA. Refunds can only be provided if you cancel enrollment by calling 979-230-3600 and speaking to a registration specialist.

Dental Assistant

This program prepares you for an entry level position in the dental field. Using a combination of classroom, laboratory and hands-on instruction, you will review anatomy, terminology, legal and ethical issues and the guidelines necessary to understand the scope of practice and practical aspects of dental assisting. The State of Texas "TSBDE" Registered Dental Assistant Exams will be available upon successful completion of the program (additional fee).

Prerequisites: Immunizations, CPR and all other program requirements must be completed in order to register.

FREE Massage Therapy Information Session

The massage therapy profession is growing rapidly in response to increasing interest in promoting personal well-being and healthy living. The Brazosport College program includes the 450 hours of classroom instruction and 50 hours of internship required for licensing in the State of Texas. The course begins in January and ends in December. Prospective students are required to attend an information session prior to enrolling in order to receive complete information about the program, state requirements, costs involved and financial aid options.

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants work in doctors’ offices, hospitals and medical clinics assisting physicians by performing administrative duties and handling basic clinical tasks. This program is completed in two parts – classroom lecture and hands-on training, followed by a Clinical training portion. Upon successful completion of the first part of the program, you will enroll in the Medical Assistant Clinical course (separate enrollment fee). During the clinical, you will be assigned to work in a clinical facility and receive hands-on training in the field.

Prerequisites: At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) and acceptable criminal background. (Clinical enrollment requires all state required immunizations, CPR training and completed Healthcare Admissions Application.) After completing both components of the program, you will be qualified to sit for a national certification exam as a Medical Assistant (additional fee).

Phlebotomy

This program is designed for individuals wanting to advance their career or those interested in starting a career in the medical field to become a Phlebotomy Technician, an important member of the clinical laboratory team.  This course focuses on skill development in performing a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and standard precautions. Phlebotomy Refresher Course

For medical professionals that would like to be re-trained or re-fresh their phlebotomy skills, this is the course for you! The course provides training on current phlebotomy skills and standards that will help individuals to regain confidence in practicing phlebotomy to either prepare for re-entering the work force or to simply enhance the individual’s skill level. This class is perfect for nurses, new phlebotomists, medical assistants, phlebotomists, and physicians. Proof of successful completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training program, or professional license or certification is required as prerequisite before students can enroll into the Phlebotomy Refresher program.
