Student in the Library

Career Pathways offers students the opportunity to acquire a combination of basic academic skills and industry-specific training at the same time with no or very little expense to the student.

Students can train for a career and complete their high school equivalency diploma or improve their English language skills at the same time.  If a student already has their high school diploma, they can also benefit from Career Pathways by improving their academic skills while receiving workforce preparation and training that leads to a career and employment opportunities in in-demand occupations.

These are two-semester classes, level one college certificates.  Students complete college courses while improving their basic skills (including math, reading, writing, English, and TSI or GED preparation) at the same time.  The program supports students by providing an additional class that contextualizes the field of study (i.e. healthcare) to help students understand how their basic skills will relate to their occupation and workforce.  Students also receive soft skills training to improve their ability to earn a job that can financially sustain them. Pre-requisites: At least 18 years of age and must meet requirements of specific occupation of study.
