Installing Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) Guide

This guide walks you through installing Microsoft 365 which includes Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more on your personal computer.

Download and sign-in to Microsoft 365

If this is the first time you're installing Microsoft 365, you'll need to download the software first from the Microsoft website.

Downloading Microsoft 365

Sign in to download Microsoft 365

  1. Go to and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
  2. Login with your Brazosport College email and password, then click Sign In.
    • For Students: Your username will be your first initial, full last name and the last 4 numbers of your BC ID, followed by (i.e.
    • For Employees: Your username will be your first initial and full last name, followed by (i.e.
  3. From the home page select Install Office
  4. Select Office 365 apps
  5. Once downloaded, click the file in your downloads to begin the installation of Microsoft 365 on your device.

Installing Office on your device

Once you've downloaded Microsoft 365, you'll be ready to install it on your device. Depending on whether you are installing it on a PC or Mac, you may have different installation instructions.

Installing Office on a PC

  1. Depending on your browser, select Run (in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).

    If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes.

    The install begins.

  2. Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Office is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find Microsoft 365 applications on your computer. Select Close.

Installing Office on a Mac

  1. Once the download has completed, open Finder, go to Downloads, and double-click Microsoft Office installer.pkg file (the name might vary slightly).
  2. On the first installation screen, select Continue to begin the installation process.
  3. Review the software license agreement, and then click Continue.
  4. Select Agree to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
  5. Choose how you want to install Microsoft 365 and click Continue.
  6. Review the disk space requirements or change your install location, and then click Install.
  7. Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and then click Install Software. (This is the password that you use to log in to your Mac.)
  8. The software begins to install. Click Close when the installation is finished.
