Jane Leidlein, M.D.

Jane Leidlein, M.D. joined the Brazosport College Board of Regents in March, 2013.
Current Civic and Professional Participation

Jane is a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Brazosport Rotary Club in Lake Jackson. She has traveled multiple times to Rotary International’s Surgical and Education Center in Guerrero, Mexico to perform cataract and pterygium surgeries. She was the 2013 Chief of Staff at Brazosport Regional Health System. Jane is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Ophthalmological Association and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor medical society.
Past and Present Work History

Jane graduated from the University of Georgia in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. She worked as a Research Chemist at The Dow Chemical Company until 1988. She graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) at Houston Medical School in 1992. At UTHSC she received the Janet M. Glasgow Award for graduating first in her class. She completed her ophthalmology residency in 1996 and her fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases in 1997. She was a Clinical Instructor at the Hermann Eye Center until 1998. In 1998 she opened the Gulf Coast Eye Center in Lake Jackson where she currently practices.

Personal Biography

Jane was born in Rome, Georgia. She is married to Hugh Leidlein, a retired Project Controls Engineer at The Dow Chemical Company. They have two children, Christopher and Katherine. They are members of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Lake Jackson.
