Meet Shelley

Shelley McCoy calls Brazosport College home and it’s with good reason.

In fact, much of her life has been at BC. Not only was Shelley a BC graduate from the school’s earliest days, she’s also been a College employee for nearly two decades.

Shelley is a part-time evening coordinator for BC’s Community Education department, as well as the coordinator of the College’s youth programs. In all, she’s been a Brazosport College employee for 16 years now, with all of these years in Community Education.

Her time at BC is in addition to her full-time career with Angleton ISD, where she has spent 31 years as a librarian, including the past 29 years in AISD elementary schools.

“I love elementary librarianship; it’s my niche,” she said. “I’m one of the very fortunate people who can say I go to work every day loving my job. I love the kids.”

While Shelley has a career she is passionate about, it never would have happened without her degree. And that goal began with Brazosport College back in 1969 — the year the College opened in the old Lanier High School building in Freeport.
