Choosing to continue your education close to home has now become even easier! As a 2022 high school graduate, when you're accepted into an Allied Health Program for the 2022-2023 academic year, your tuition and fees are covered!

Brazosport College is proud to announce BC Advantage 22, an exciting opportunity for the high school graduating class of 2022. This initiative is available to 2022 graduates from Brazosport College service area public and private schools, homeschools, and those students who earned their GED during the 2021-2022 academic year. Eligible students are any 2021-2022 graduate from a Brazosport College service area high school regardless of where they reside.

Brazosport College is covering the cost of tuition and fees for one year for 2022 graduates that enroll full-time in the Medical Assistant program through Community Education at BC for the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

Funds are applied to your account in this order: state-mandated/optional waivers, veteran affairs, financial aid, scholarships, CE scholarships and applicable grant funds and finally, the BC Advantage 22 program funds.

Eligible students should follow the steps to enrollment which start with completing the Allied Health Program Application, Registration Questionnaire, Apply Texas application and filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

How to Take Advantage of this Opportunity

STEP ONE

Eligibility

Students who graduated high school or completed their HSE (formerly known as GED) in 2022 that enroll full-time in the Medical Assistant program through Community Education at BC for the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

Follow the steps to enroll below, starting with completing the Allied Health Program Application, Registration Questionnaire, Apply Texas application and filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Funds are applied to your account in this order: state-mandated/optional waivers, veteran affairs, financial aid, scholarships, CE scholarships and applicable grant funds and finally, the BC Advantage 22 program funds.

Medical Assistant

CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO START DATES:

Medical Assistants work in medical clinics and similar settings assisting physicians by performing administrative duties and handling basic clinical tasks. Often, they are the first person a patient may encounter during a medical appointment. Medical Assistants are trained in front office duties, charting, billing procedures, EKG, phlebotomy, vital signs, and other important clinical tasks. The cost of a national certification exam is included in this program.

Prerequisites for Clinical Practicum: At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE), acceptable criminal background and completion of all required immunizations and CPR training. This is a blended course with both on-campus and online instruction. You will meet in person on-campus on the first class day.

Who is Eligible

  • Any 2022 graduate from a Brazosport College service area high school regardless of where they currently reside or any 2022 high school graduate who currently resides in the BC service area is eligible for the BC Advantage 22 program. A student that received their HSE (formerly GED) in 2021-2022 and is currently residing in the BC service area is also eligible. This includes graduates from fall 2021 through summer 2022. The 2021-2022 academic year is defined as August 24, 2021 – August 12, 2022.
  • You must have graduated from a Brazosport College service area high school during the 2021-2022 academic year or have completed your GED in 2022. This includes graduates from fall 2021 through summer 2022.
  • BC Advantage 22 is for all 2022 high school grads within BC’s service area, even those that may not qualify for financial aid.
  • You must remain in good academic standing in accordance with the Satisfactory Academic Policy during the 2022-2023 academic year.
  • You must be enrolled full-time (12+ hours) at Brazosport College.
  • You must have a high school GPA of 2.0 or have completed the Texas State Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) exam.
  • You must complete a Free Application for Federal Student AID (FAFSA).
  • You must live in the Brazosport College service area. This includes:

What’s Covered

  • The program covers tuition and fees for all terms in the 2022-2023 academic year, including minimesters.
  • Community education programs that result in recognized credentials are covered.
  • Extra charges for out-of-district students within the college’s service area.

What’s Not Covered

  • Summer 2022 tuition
  • Books, course materials, supplies, or uniforms
