Doug McNamee, president of the famed Magnolia family of companies, recently appeared at the Brazosport College Foundation’s first Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series event of the year.

During the luncheon on Oct. 3 at the Dow Academic Center on the Brazosport College campus, McNamee talked about his experiences leading the Waco-based company, which is home to HGTV’s popular show, “Fixer Upper,” as well as some of Magnolia’s future plans and projects.

McNamee, who was raised in Lake Jackson and is a former Brazosport College dual credit student, also talked about the importance of Brazosport College and the communities it serves.

McNamee’s relationship with Magnolia began in 2013, when Chip and Joanna Gaines asked him and his wife Lacy to be in their pilot episode of “Fixer Upper.” Five years to the day after the airing of the pilot, McNamee rejoined the Gaines, overseeing all business operations for the Magnolia family of companies including Magnolia Market, Silos Baking Co., Magnolia Realty, and Magnolia Table, just to name a few.

Before joining the Magnolia family in 2018, McNamee served as Baylor’s Senior Associate Athletic Director, focusing on external affairs and fundraising.

The Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series is a series of events intended to help promote cultural enrichment for all women hosted by the Brazosport College Foundation.

This year’s Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series has two more events scheduled, with best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize winner Bill Dedman appearing on February 6, followed by one of the U.S. Secret Service’s first woman agents Kathryn Childers on April 2.
