Klassical Kids celebrates area’s musical talents

Mon Feb 22, 2016

The 2016 edition of the Brazosport Klassical Kids concert will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 28 in the performance hall in The Clarion at Brazosport College.

Loosely based on the National Public Radio show “From the Top” hosted by Christopher O’Riley, the concert will include local students who were selected by audition to present a musical performance after lessons/coaching from Brazosport College music faculty. Sponsored by the Brazosport College Department of Music, BC Director of Choral and Keyboard Activities Rodney Mason serves as host.

Participants chosen for the Klassical Kids concert include Benjamin McAdams (piano), Jessica Clayton (soprano), Santiago Gutierrez (piano), Evan Breiden (tenor), and Mayur Aggarwal. In addition to the students’ performances, there will be an interview that will highlight other talents and interests.

The model for Klassical Kids, “From the Top,” will also be coming to Brazosport College for a live taping of the show on Friday, March 4, with activities planned around Brazosport during the week. While Klassical Kids is free and open to the public, “From the Top” is a ticketed event with tickets available through The Clarion at Brazosport College Box Office, (979) 230-3156 or brazosport.edu/clarion.
