Gibson Board of Regents

New Brazosport College Board of Regent Jay Gibson, right, is sworn in by Board of Regents Chair Carolyn Johnson during the December Board of Regents meeting at Brazosport College.

Brazosport College is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Gibson to the school’s Board of Regents.

Gibson, who was sworn in at the December Board of Regents meeting, is a licensed attorney and is retired from Dow.

A graduate of Sweeny High School, Gibson earned a Bachelor degree of Finance from Sam Houston State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center.

“I look forward to working with the Board of Regents to ensure that Brazosport College grows in its role as the College of Choice for local students seeking an affordable and high-value education,” Gibson said. “As the majority of jobs being created today require a certificate or degree, the College's role is even more important for these students looking to participate in today's economy.”

Gibson is involved with the Brazoria County Bar Association; State Bar of Texas; Brazosport College Foundation; Boys and Girls Club of Brazoria County, Board of Directors (former); United Way of Brazoria County, Board of Directors (former); and First United Methodist Church, Administrative Board Chair.

He is married to Lisa, who recently retired from Brazosport ISD after a 40-year teaching career. They have two grown children, Caitlin and Coulter. They have been attending First United Methodist Church in Lake Jackson for 30 years, and they enjoy spending time with friends and traveling.

Gibson takes over for Jane Leidlein, who stepped down from the board after serving the college since 2013.
