Experience the Big Apple through BC Community Education
There’s nothing like New York City in December.
Most everyone has seen it in movies, television and postcards. Whether it’s watching joyful kids skating on the ice near Rockefeller Center or gazing at the famous Christmas tree beneath a backdrop of the New York City skyline, the Big Apple in the holiday season is the stuff dreams are made of.
This December, Brazosport College’s Community Education Travel Program is giving everyone an opportunity to experience this first hand.
The CE Travel Program is offering a New York City holiday trip December 12 through 16. This five-day excursion covers many of the city’s most well known spots, including Greenwich Village, the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, a Broadway show, Radio City Music Hall and much more.
Even better, there’s no stress involved. The tour package handles most of the details, which include round-trip airfare, a five-night stay, five meals and tickets to many of New York City’s most famous sights. Your job is simply to enjoy your time in the City That Never Sleeps!
“This is such an exciting opportunity,” said Carol Bohley, a representative of Brazosport College making the trip. “Not only do you get to see New York City, but you get to see it at Christmastime. There’s nothing like it.
“There’s so much you only get to see during the Christmas season,” she added. “The Rockettes Christmas Show, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, the famous skating rink — all with the crisp, coolness in the air that we don’t get to experience here in the south. It will be an incredible experience.”
Bohley doesn’t say this lightly, either. She’s an experienced traveler who has witnessed some of the world’s greatest sights. She’s traveled throughout the world, visiting places such as Greece, China, Brazil, Italy and Germany, to name just a few. In fact, she’s spent time on every continent except Antarctica.
Actually, this is just the tip of iceberg in terms of Bohley’s extensive travel knowledge. She’s also very experienced with cruises and volunteers throughout America at National Parks.
“We’re so excited to have Carol represent Brazosport College on this New York City trip,” Brazosport College Community Education Director Cathie Hanson said of Bohley. “She knows how to get the most out of a trip and her experience will be beneficial to everyone making this trip with her.”
The New York City holiday trip is a partnership between Brazosport College and Collette Vacations, and is the first of many trips being offered through the BC Community Education Travel Program.
Also available are a trip to northern California — which includes San Francisco, Tuolumne, Yosemite, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Napa, Sonoma and Santa Rosa — on March 19-27, 2017, and a musical excursion to Germany with the Brazosport Choral Union on June 17, 2017.
For those interested in traveling to northern California, an information session will be offered at 10 a.m. on September 15 at the Community Education Center on the Brazosport College campus.
