Brazosport College to celebrate Heritage Hispanic Month

Brazosport College is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events, scheduled from Sept. 26 to Oct. 16.

The festivities begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 with a Calle de Colegio kickoff event in the courtyard outside the MEGlobal Student Pavilion at Brazosport College. The event will feature live music, games, piñatas and food trucks.

Other events scheduled throughout Hispanic Heritage Month include salsa lessons and competitions, tortilla making and a film screening.

A few more highlights will be a luncheon featuring speaker John Calderon and a closing event on Oct. 16 that includes Loteria, Ballet Folklorico and a Mariachi band.

Thursday, Sept. 26 – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Live Music, Games, Piñatas, Food Trucks. Free food tickets to first 200 students.

LUNCH & LEARN SALSA LESSONS
Tuesday, Oct. 1 – 12:30 p.m.
MEGlobal Student Pavilion
Salsa dance lessons and free lunch. Must dance to eat!

“LOS GRADUADOS” FILM SCREENING & DISCUSSION
Thursday, Oct. 3 – 4 p.m.
Gator Hall

LUNCH & LEARN SALSA COMPETITION AND TORTILLA MAKING
Monday, Oct. 7 – 12:30 p.m.
Community Education Kitchen
Tortilla making lessons, judging of salsa competition and lunch.
Salsa entries: Pick up quart containers for salsa from Student Life or the EDC. Deliver one quart to the CE Kitchen between 10 a.m. and noon. Winner receives a $50 gift card.

LUNCHEON & SPEAKER
Wednesday, Oct. 9 – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees must have a ticket to attend. Tickets are available in the Office of Student Life, Employee Development Center or any planning committee member.
