Brazosport College recognizes Leidlein, Wells for service to Board of Regents

Brazosport College recently honored and recognized the contributions of former Board of Regents members Dr. Jane Leidlein and Rich Wells during its annual Holiday Luncheon at the College’s Corporate Learning Center.
During the luncheon, Brazosport College president Dr. Millicent Valek presented Leidlein and Wells with gifts and recognized their years of service to the Board. Leidlein and Wells will both have scholarships created in their honor.
“I want to say ‘thank you’ to both Dr. Leidlein and Rich Wells for their service to Brazosport College,” Valek said. “We truly appreciate everything they have done for the College and look forward to them being longtime friends to Brazosport College in the future.”
Leidlein, an ophthalmologist at Gulf Coast Eye Center in Lake Jackson, served on the Board of Regents since March, 2013.
“I feel very honored to have been on the Board of Regents,” Leidlein said. “I’m just so impressed on how professional and how ahead of everyone else in education that Brazosport College seems to be. They’re in the forefront of trying to make it easier and less expensive for students to get an education.
“This college really makes a difference in a lot of lives in this community, as well as educating good employees for many businesses,” she added.
Wells, who joined the Board in 2018, is a member of Dow’s Operations Leadership Team. He is Vice President of U.S. Gulf Coast Operations and Site Director of Texas Operations.
“I’ve long-recognized the service Brazosport College provides our community, but having the chance to serve on the Board of Regents showed me why it does such a great job,” Wells said. “The staff, students, teachers — that’s the secret to success.”
“This is a great institution,” he added. “I know that from personal experience, but also from professional experience. Brazosport College helps Dow be more successful, not just here, but all over.”
While on the Board of Regents, Wells occupied Position 6 and Leidlein served in Position 4.
