Brazosport College recently celebrated Black History Month with a variety of activities and events.

The festivities, which ran throughout the month of February, began with a kickoff tailgate party outside the Seidule Theatre. The event featured music, food trucks, games, a drum line and a Black Inventor’s Gallery Walk, among other activities.

Many other events were scheduled throughout the month, with all having strong participation from the college and community. Among the highlights were a Lunch & Learn session with BC professors David Sysma and Chad Lower, a screening of the documentary, “The Rise & Fall of Black Wall Street,” an MLK Poster Award Ceremony and a Mobile Black History Museum.

The month concluded with a Black History Month Luncheon that featured an appearance by Dr. Alveda Williams from The Dow Chemical Company.
