Jennifer Kennon award

Brazosport College staff member Jennifer Kennon recently earned a Partners for Progress & Prosperity award presented by the National American Chemical Society (ACS) for her role in forming an ACS student chapter at Brazosport College. Kennon has been working on the creation of the student chapter with Daniel Abebe from Dow Chemical Company. Abebe, who is currently the chair of the Brazosport Chapter of the American Chemical Society, accepted the award, which includes a $1,000 prize, at an awards banquet in Austin. The Partners for Progress & Prosperity Award celebrates successful partnerships between two or more organizations with a presence in the Southwestern Region that have had an impactful outcome in supporting STEM education and/or research. The award was presented to Kennon at the initial meeting of the College’s ACS student chapter, which had around 15 students in attendance. Kennon is the College/Industry Coordinator for the Physical Sciences & Process Technologies Division at Brazosport College. Pictured is Abebe, left, presenting the award to Kennon.
