BC Discovery Series returns with three virtual events beginning Feb. 16
The Brazosport College Library and Office of Student Life have announced a new lineup of events to be featured in this Spring’s popular BC Discovery Series.
The goal of the BC Discovery Series is to engage the College and community in various educational and interesting topics with faculty members.
For the Spring 2021 semester, presentations will be held virtually through the Zoom video conferencing application. All presentations are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and are free of charge. BC students, employees and the community are welcome to attend.
Three BC Discovery Series events are planned for the Spring semester, beginning with a fun and informative presentation about Jazz and Mardi Gras on Feb. 16 by BC Director of Music Richard Birk. Through this session, participants will learn about the connection between New Orleans Jazz and Mardi Gras, while having the opportunity to listen to famous NOLA music.
The series continues on March 16, as BC professor Hollis Knode shares prisoners-of-war stories within our community during a presentation titled, “WWII German POWs in Brazoria County.”
Finally, this year’s Discovery Series comes to a close on April 6 with “Stress: Friend or Foe?” During this event, BC professor Cassandra Zamoralez will help participants identify different types of stress and how to use them in a constructive manner.
