Jazz guitar legend John Pizzarelli to perform at the Clarion on Jan. 12
LAKE JACKSON — World-renowned jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli will bring his amazing talents to The Clarion at Brazosport College for a 7:30 p.m. performance on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Pizzarelli has recorded more than 25 solo albums and has appeared on numerous albums by other recording artists, including James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Paul McCartney, Kristin Chenoweth, Tom Wopat, Rickie Lee Jones and Dave Van Ronk, as well as leading jazz artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Bucky Pizzarelli, Johnny Frigo, Buddy DeFranco and Harry Allen.
Pizzarelli has been hailed by the “Boston Globe” for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” The “Toronto Star” pegged him as “the genial genius of the guitar,” and the “Seattle Times” saluted him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.”
Established as one of the primary contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook, Pizzarelli has expanded that repertoire by including the music of McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim and the Beatles. His themed shows, often performed with his wife Jessica Molaskey, suggest there is no limit to Pizzarelli’s imagination or talent.
The Jan. 12 show is sponsored by Nalco Champion an Ecolab Company and STP Nuclear Operating Company. Pizzerelli will be performing with the Brazosport Jazz Orchestra.
Tickets for the show are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, Brazosport College employees and Former Student Association members, and $10 for students and children.
For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Clarion Box Office at (979) 230-3156 or online at www.brazosport.edu/clarion.
