Brazosport College registering students for summer Teens College

For teenagers seeking a fun and informative summer class — without a long time commitment — a course through Brazosport College’s Teens College might be the perfect option.

Throughout the week of June 12-15, BC’s Teens College will offer four different courses for young students aged 13-17. Each class consists of one three-hour day, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Hosted through BC’s Community Education department, students can register to learn a variety of skills, including cookie decorating, robotics and programming, guided painting and sewing. Prices range from $35 to $45 per course and there is no limit to how many classes a student can take.

Classes offered through BC’s Teen College include:

Cookie Decorating Monday, June 12 — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — $45 Learn to mix and color royal icing to complete basic border/flood technique. Students will then learn how to add both incorporated and three-dimensional decorations. Each student will go home with one dozen of their personally decorated cookies.

Robotics & Programming Tuesday, June 13 — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — $35 Students will work in teams to design, build and program robots using LEGO kits and Sphero SPRK.

Guided Painting Wednesday, June 14 — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — $40 Creativity will flow, as students have a fun opportunity to follow along with an artist.

Sewing Basics Thursday, June 15 — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — $40 Learn how to thread a needle, sew a button, iron on a patch or work on a sewing machine.
