BC Theatre’s set to open ‘Lonestar & Laundry and Bourbon’ on March 3

Thu Feb 23, 2023

Brazosport College Theatre is set to present its first show of 2023 — and it’s a two-for-one production with more than its share of fun.

A Texas double feature, “Lonestar & Laundry and Bourbon” consists of two one-act comedies, both set in a Texas small town.

Five performances are scheduled:

  • Friday, March 3 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 4 at 8 p.m.
  • Friday, March 10 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

All productions will be at the Theatre in the Glen at Brazosport College.

“Lonestar & Laundry and Bourbon” provides a comedic glimpse into small-town life.

Elizabeth and her friend, Hattie, are spending the day doing laundry, drinking bourbon and Coke, gossiping about people’s secrets and watching television. Out of nowhere, Amy Lee shows up with a piece of particularly juicy information.

Meanwhile, Roy is back in town after serving in Vietnam. He's a macho guy who was once a local hero. Accompanied by his adoring younger brother, Ray, he cracks open a case of beer while regaling Ray with stories from the military and beyond.

The play is directed by Bobby Britton Jr. and features a talented group filled with three BC Theatre veterans, as well as three new faces. The cast includes Chelsea Denard, Lowrie Smith, Bryanna Romo, D. Trace Tonche, Aaron Thayne Rouse and Jacob Lamar.

Tickets are $10 for the public. BC students, faculty and staff can attend the show for free.

As an added bonus, complimentary bourbon tasting and themed cocktails will be available all night long during the opening-night performance on Friday, March 3.
