BC students participate in multiple events during first week of Fall semester

The 2023 Fall semester recently kicked off at Brazosport College, and the school’s Office of Student Life ensured there were plenty of activities for students to participate in. 

The first week was filled with a variety of social events, including a Silent Disco, school supply giveaways, ‘Welcome Back’ swag and the annual Strive 2 Drive Kickoff. 

A new event this year, the Silent Disco, was a big hit with students, faculty and staff. Gator Hall was filled with participants wearing lighted headphones, and dancing to music supplied by an in-person DJ. Other popular activities at the Disco included life-sized Jenga and Connect Four games, a workstation to design and create glow-in-the-dark T-shirts, plenty of food and beverages.

A day later, students gathered outside the Bonnen Central building to kick off the annual Strive 2 Drive campaign. This is the sixth consecutive year, which will conclude at the end of the academic year with one lucky student winning a new car.

While the first week of school at Brazosport College was busy, there’s no letting up anytime soon. The coming weeks will continue a semester of student activities at Brazosport College, with everything from a Student Involvement Fair, Hispanic Heritage Month festivities and a National Night Out community event, among other events, open to students. The Student Government Association-sponsored Build-a-Gator event, which was introduced last year, is also returning Sept. 7.
