Branford Marsalis Quartet to jazz up the Clarion
An award-winning musician, composer, bandleader and educator, Branford Marsalis is a 21st century mainstay of artistic excellence.
He will bring his incredible talents to the Clarion at Brazosport College on February 5. Marsalis and his group, the Branford Marsalis Quartet, will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
The show is sponsored by Brazosport Regional Health System and Rod & Luz Hall – Honda of Lake Jackson/Honda of Brazosport/Honda of Lake Jackson Power Equipment.
Marsalis has won three Grammys and, together with his father and brothers, has been cited as a Jazz Master by the National Endowment of the Arts.
Marsalis has worked with a legion of music giants, including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, Harry Connick and his longtime quartet pianist, Joey Calderazzo. He is also familiar to many as a former musical director of The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno.
As a group, the Branford Marsalis Quartet has long been recognized as the standard to which other ensembles of its kind are measured.
Marsalis will also be providing a special educational outreach program for selected local schools.
Tickets for the Brandon Marsalis Quartet’s Feb. 5 show are $65 for adults, $60 for seniors, Brazosport College employees and BC Former Student Association members and $25 for students and children.
