Voters in the Brazosport Independent School District elect to create the Brazosport Junior College District.

Summer 
1967

Voters authorize a tax to support the maintenance of the college.

The Board of Trustees of the Brazosport Independent School District divests itself of the college's management, control, and operation. 

The Board of Regents for the college district is installed (August).

1968

Dr. J. R. Jackson becomes the first president of Brazosport Junior College.

Fall 
1968

The first semester of classes begins with an enrollment of 879 students.

1970

Brazosport Junior College graduates 25 students.

October 
1970

The name of the school is changed to Brazosport College to reflect its broader purpose.

March 
1978

Dr. Jackson is named president emeritus; Dr. W. A. Bass, vice president of the college since its inception, becomes president.

August 
1988

Dr. Bass retires and is named president emeritus; Dr. John R. Grable becomes president after serving as vice-president for 11 years.

August 
1996

Dr. Grable is named special assistant to the Board; Dr. Millicent Valek becomes president.

2002

Corporate Learning Center and Children's Center are built.

Winter 2004

Brazosport College receives accreditation approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and School as a baccalaureate level institution.

2005

The Clarion is built.

Classes begin for Bachelor of Applied Technology degree in Technology Management program.

November
2007

The community approved a $70 million bond referendum.

2009

The official logo design is updated to modern look.

2010

Brazosport College named a Leader College by Achieving the Dream.

2011

The Master Plan project is completed with the following additions:

  • BASF Center for Process Technology
  • The Byron & Sandra Sadler Health Professions/Science Complex
  • Dow Academic Center
  • Student Pavilion
  • Library expansion

2013

Brazosport College named a top 10 community college in the nation by the Aspen Institute.

Brazosport College re-certified as a Leader College by Achieving the Dream.

2015

Brazosport College named a top 10 community college in the nation by the Aspen Institute.

2015-2016

BCPC Welding Technologies Laboratory is built.

2016

Brazosport College re-certified as a Leader College by Achieving the Dream.

Brazosport College is one of twelve Texas community colleges selected to be part of the Texas Pathways Project.
