· What is New Student Orientation?
New Student Orientation is an introduction to the resources available at Brazosport College as well as a way to build relationships with faculty, staff, and peers at BC. New Student Orientation is comprised of an online module and a 1.5 hour on-campus session.
· Who is required to attend New Student Orientation?
Students who have never taken college classes (at Brazosport College or any other college) are required to take New Student Orientation. This includes dual credit students and students earning a Certificate.
·What happens if I don’t attend New Student Orientation?
Students who are required to attend New Student Orientation, but do not will have a hold placed on their account which will prevent them from registering for classes for the next semester.
·How do I complete New Student Orientation?
Steps to Complete New Student Orientation
o Review the online new student orientation module at http://longview.brazosport.edu/bcdl/NSO.html#top.
o Complete the survey provided at the end of the online module.
o Register for an in-person orientation through https://mybc.brazosport.edu/ics.
o Attend the in-person orientation session.
·What if I can't register for the on-campus session?
Students who are unable to register for the on campus orientation session through myBC can visit an Enrollment Specialist at the Enrollment and Registrar's Office or call 979-230-3412.
·What if I don't register for New Student Orientation?
Space is limited in each orientation session. Students who are not registered for an on campus orientation session will be placed on a waiting list, beginning 30 minutes prior to the session. If there are available spots in the session, students on the wait list will be allowed to participate.
·Can parents or guests attend New Student Orientation with their student?
Parents and guests can attend New Student Orientation; however they will be asked to sit separately from their student as we want the students to interact with one another. An optional parent/guest meeting will be hosted by the Dean of Student Services at each orientation session.
·What should I bring to New Student Orientation?
Students should bring a picture ID to New Student Orientation. All other materials will be provided.
·What if I arrive late to New Student Orientation?
Students arriving late to New Student Orientation will not be allowed to attend, and will need to register for a different session.
