The Clarion’s Summer Matinee Series kicks off with A.D. Players
The Clarion at Brazosport College is set to kick off its annual Summer Matinee Series of shows for children, and this year’s series-opening show is a familiar one for many.
The A.D. Players will be returning to The Clarion on Wednesday, June 18 and will be performing its show, “The Magician’s Nephew.” Showtime is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and tickets are $7 each.
“The Magician's Nephew” is adapted from the exciting first story in The Chronicles of Narnia series.
The story follows Digory and his friend Polly who, through a pair of magical rings, discover new worlds, including Narnia at the very beginning of its creation. During their travels they accidentally awaken the evil Queen Jadis, who follows them into Narnia, and a battle of good against evil begins as Digory seeks a healing apple to save his sick mother.
The “Magician’s Nephew” is the first of three summers shows that are sure to be hits with kids of all ages. A week after the A.D. Players open the series, a Clarion favorite, “Tom’s Fun Band” performs at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. The series then concludes on July 9 with magician Lanny Kibbey’s first appearance at the Clarion.
