Brazosport College is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven D. Solis to the school’s Board of Regents. Solis was sworn in at the September Board of Regents meeting.
Solis, an active licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas, has worked for Dow Chemical Company since 1983. He currently serves as the Associate EH&S Director for the Chlor-Vinyl & Chlorinated Organics business groups in Texas and Arkansas.
During his Dow career, he has served in a variety of leadership roles, including manufacturing, process engineering, project management, maintenance, training, and environmental, health and safety.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve on the Brazosport College Board of Regents,” Solis said. “I look forward to working in this capacity to help the college achieve its vision and goals.”
Born in Port Arthur, Solis graduated from Lamar University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is married to Lisa, a Lamar University graduate and former Brazosport Independent School District elementary teacher and they have two children, Alyssa and Anthony, both graduates of Texas A&M University.
Solis has been active in Boy Scouts of America since 1997. He is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, where he is actively involved in youth ministry and the Knights of Columbus.
Solis takes over for Jerry Hinojosa, who stepped down from the board after 23 years of service to the college.
