BC Phi Theta Kappa chapter earns ‘Best in Texas’ award
The announcement came at the organization’s regional and international conferences on April 15-19 in San Antonio. There are approximately 1,300 internationally, with 61 represented chapters hailing from Texas.
“ I am thrilled for the members of the Psi Psi chapter,” said lead advisor Cassie Bruner. “They worked incredibly hard to complete their projects in 2014 and it was such a wonderful experience to be able to get up on the stage multiple times at our International Awards Gala. Their hard work was recognized and that experience has given them the motivation to do even better this year.”
Among the international awards won by the BC chapter were being named a Distinguished Chapter, earning a Distinguished College Project award and the Distinguished Theme Award-Honors in Action.
Bruner also was recognized as one of 30 international advisors to receive a Paragon Award for new advisors.
In addition to the international accolades, the BC chapters were recognized among the very best chapters regionally and district-wide.
Phi Theta Kappa officers Gabriella Cuevas, Nathan Dowlen, Regina Whisenhant, Roberto Gutierrez and Vanessa Calcote were inducted into the District IV Hall of Honors, while Bruner was named to the district’s advisors hall of honor.
Led by the top Texas chapter award, BC’s group also was noted for a College Project of Merit, the Honors in Action Award of Distinction and for remaining a five-star chapter. Bruner and co-advisor Carrie Pritchett were inducted into the regional hall of honor, while Pritchett earned an advisor recognition for Outstanding Regional Contribution award.
