‘Julie and Julia’ author appears at BC Lecture Luncheon event

Best-selling author, memoirist and blogger Julie Powell recently appeared at the Brazosport College Foundation’s final Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series event of the season. Best-selling author, memoirist and blogger Julie Powell recently appeared at the Brazosport College Foundation’s final Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series event of the season.

Powell’s Brazosport College appearance was an on-stage interview conducted by Shara Fryer, former ABC13 newscaster and current 740 KTRH anchor.

Powell discussed a variety of topics, including her national best-selling book, “Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously.” The book was adapted to the big screen as “Julie and Julia,” and earned a 2009 best actress nomination for Meryl Streep.

The Women’s Lecture Luncheon Series is a series of events intended to help promote cultural enrichment for all women hosted by the Brazosport College Foundation.

Memberships are available for the 2015-16 season, which features NASA Astronaut and Navy SEAL Chris Cassidy on Oct. 15, Boston Marathon bombing survivor Rebekah Gregory on Feb. 11, 2016 and child abduction victim Elizabeth Smart on April 7, 2016.
