Grant funds industrial math tool kits for BC students

Rebecca Goins, Tutor Coordinator, Student Success Center at Brazosport College; Kay Brooks, Adult Education & Literacy Grant Project Manager, Brazosport College; and Krystal Watson, High School Equivalency Coordinator, Brazosport College, recently accepted locally-developed industrial math tool kits for use in their respective areas. The tool bags, which were presented by Brazosport College Workforce Development Director Beth Cassidy, contains triangular architect scales, micrometers, calipers, metal squares and various measuring devices that will be used to provide students with hands-on industrial math tutorial activities. These experiences not only provide students with relevant examples of problems faced in industrial trades, but also have the advantage of engaging students and increasing their interest in and enjoyment of mathematics. Funding for the tools was provided by a Carl Perkins Grant for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Workforce Programs.
