Brazosport College students excel in anatomy course
In his decades of teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Brazosport College professor Jerry James has never had a class quite like this.
In a difficult course that usually sports a class average around the mid-70s, James’ fall 2015 Anatomy and Physiology 1 Fast Track class posted an 87 average — the highest class average since he began teaching the course.
“The students enrolled in my Anatomy and Physiology 1 Fast Track class proved to be exceptionally motivated learners,” James said. “They participated faithfully in Weekly SI sessions and met multiple times in small study groups to master the course content.”
The students gathered at local restaurants and coffee houses, and motivated each other to learn the course material and they made learning fun, James said.
Students in the Anatomy and Physiology 1 Fast Track class were Sandy Adams, Melissa Aguilar, Loretta Cady, Ashley Hamilton, Allison Hobbs, Lacie Linscombe, Shuqing Liu, Vella Macedo, Belinda Martinez, Rocio Martinez, Laurin Matejowsky, Emily McQueen, Kim Olivares, Jennifer Rubio, Jessica Silva, Justin Staggers, Joanna Suniga and SI Leader Vanessa Calcote.
To commemorate the event, the students made T-shirts in recognition of their accomplishment.
After earning high recognition in the Anatomy and Physiology 1 Fast Track, the students followed up with an impressive 86 class average in the A&P 2 course.
