Brazosport College seeks industry employees to share knowledge

Industry employees have always been great teachers. Now they can bring those skills to the classroom.

Brazosport College is seeking current or retired industry employees to teach credit- or non-credit courses on a full- or part-time basis. Instructing at Brazosport College is a great way to stay connected to industry, while also giving back to the community by training tomorrow’s leaders.

For example, Dow retiree Ellroy Fox has taught at Brazosport College and has discovered plenty of benefits in sharing his years of knowledge.

“I went to work as a way to stay active and keep my mind engaged, and I found instructing and sharing my work experiences with students to be very rewarding,” Fox said. “The part-time schedule has been nice, in that I still have the extra time to go and do the things I like. Of course, the extra spending money has been great, but meeting all the new people and instructors has also been a good experience. Also, seeing everyone still at the plants has helped me keep up to date on the industry.”

The college is seeking instructors to share their expertise in process operations, instrumentation technology, electrical, pipefitting, millwright, welding, engineering and computer science.
