Brazosport Choral Union to perform season finale
The Brazosport Choral Union will give its final performance of the season at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 in the performance hall in the Clarion at Brazosport College.
The combined choirs of the Brazosport College Chamber Choir, College Singers and Brazosport Civic Chorus are slated to perform. The choirs are expected to showcase Baroque composer Antonio Lotti’s “Agnus Dei” from Mass VII, as well as John Rutter’s “The Gift of Music,” which features Lead Rice, soprano; guitar faculty Evan Oxenhandler; and Andrea Salazar, flute.
The program will continue with “Sweet Betsy from Pike,” arranged by Oscar Haugland; the Beatles’ “In My Life,” arranged by Steve Zegree; Manhattan Transfer’s “Java Jive,” featuring the Jazz Singers;the spiritual “Ain’t Got Time to Die,” featuring Conner Wilburn, tenor; and “Solfege A La Sousa” by Ken Berg.
Members of the choir will prepare Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” in the weeks following the concert for a Two-Year College Festival Performance in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Rodney Mason serves as director of the choruses.
