BC to host job information session for potential Dow employees
Brazosport College will host a Job Information Session on Tuesday, November 19 at the BASF Center for Process Technology building.
The information session will run from 6 to 7 p.m. and is aimed to provide information on particular skills Dow Chemical Company looks for in prospective employees. The session is especially beneficial for instrumentation and process technology students.
Organized by Dow I & E Maintenance Representative and Brazosport College Adjunct Instructor Kevin Bell, the event will have three speakers on hand to provide information and answer questions. All three are Dow employees.
Speakers scheduled to appear are I&E Training and Workforce Coordinator Kim Hamilton, Production Leader Charles Lyon and Maintenance Process Leader John Thibodeaux.
“We are seeing an unprecedented demand for instrument technicians and process technicians due to plant expansions and anticipated retirements,” said Gary Hicks, Brazosport College Division Chair Physical Sciences and Process Technologies. “Based on input from industry, the demand for operators is going to be extremely high. In the next five years there will be great career opportunities that we would like to see people in our community take advantage of.
“I would encourage all of our students in the program, as well as potential students, to attend this event,” Hicks added. “It is designed to not only give students information on anticipated jobs, but also address some critical soft skills that industry is looking for.”
