BC Regents discuss partnership with CBISD at annual workshop
Brazosport College’s Board of Regents recently held its annual board workshop at the College’s Corporate Learning Center. Among the items discussed was a partnership discussion involving the Regents, Brazosport College President Dr. Millicent Valek, Columbia-Brazoria ISD Superintendent Steve Galloway, CBISD Board member Wendy Monical and Brazosport College Vice President, Academic Affairs Dr. Lynda Villanueva. The panel discussed the College’s strong relationship with CBISD and how they decided to move away from AP courses to only offering dual credit courses for their students to achieve college credit while still enrolled at CBISD. The Board also discussed a variety of other topics, including the College’s successful SACSCOC accreditation and reaffirmation until 2026, the top-level goals the College will reach by 2020 and some of the new and innovative programs at BC. The implementation of the College’s new ACE It program also was discussed, as well as the College’s focus on becoming a Guided Pathways school.
