BC Jazz Band & Jazz Singers set for fall concert
The Brazosport College Jazz Band, under the direction of Richard Birk, and the Jazz Singers, under the direction of Rodney Mason, take the stage for their first concert of the fall semester at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at The Clarion at Brazosport College.
The BC Jazz Band will perform a variety of jazz classics including “There Will Never Be Another You” and “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” as well as the traditional New Orleans tune “Hey Pocky Way.” Other tunes to be presented are the recent pop hit “Rude,” AC/DC’s classic “You Shook Me All Night Long” and Maceo Parker’s funky “Uptown Up.
The BC Jazz Singers will perform “Swing Street” by Barry Manilow, New York Voices’ “National Amnesia,” Paris Rutherford’s arrangement of “Nica’s Dream” and the gorgeous ballad “Our Day Will Come.”
Jazz Singers include Darian Baker, Evan Brieden, Zackary Doughty, Makayla Dunn, Taylor Fox, Gabriella Medrano, Leda Rice, Reagan Rickey and Zachary Zarate. Jazz Band members are Alec Benitez, Elijah Green, Adam Gutierrez, Emily Felsted, Chad Lewis, Ruben Rodriguez, and Austin Taylor on sax, Jonathan Guevara on trombone, Samson Miles on cello, Dante Warnick on guitar, Crissy Martinez on piano, Xander Greco, E.J. Salazar and Israel Trevino on bass, and Daniel Villareal on drums.
Admission to the concert is free and no tickets are required.
