The Brazosport College and Community Band will celebrate Veterans Day with a patriotic concert titled “A Salute to America,” at 7:30 p.m. on November 11.
In addition to honoring veterans with several patriotic selections, the performance will celebrate America’s unique musical contributions to the world. The concert is free and will be held in The Clarion, located just east of the main building at 500 College Drive, Lake Jackson.
“Our program will pay tribute to our veterans with an armed forces medley as well as include a couple of patriotic marches,” said director Richard Birk. “Additionally, we will showcase the broad diversity of America’s musical melting pot by including some Broadway favorites, from Irving Berlin and Leonard Bernstein, and two new pieces for band by contemporary American composers. I hope the community will come join us for a wonderful evening of music.”
