BC alumna Debra Grandjean to speak at commencement
Brazosport College is pleased to recognize Distinguished Alumna Debra Grandjean as its 2014-15 Spring Commencement speaker.
Brazosport College’s Spring Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at the Dow Academic Center. Two Commencement ceremonies will be held, the first at 10 a.m. followed by another ceremony at 2 p.m.
The 10 a.m. commencement is for Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) graduates, while the 2 p.m. Commencement will be for Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) graduates.
Grandjean will speak at both ceremonies.
A 1976 BC graduate, Grandjean is a retired partner from Ernst & Young’s Global Energy practice and has served as the global client service partner for some of the world’s largest oil & gas and pharmaceutical companies.
She has co-authored several articles, including “The Future of Oil Field Services,” released at the 2008 World Petroleum Congress in Madrid, Spain. She also spoke at the inaugural “Women in Energy” event in Dubai, UAE.
Grandjean holds a MBA (Masters of Business Administration) from the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is married to Mark, her husband of 40 years, and they have two children. She currently serves on two Boards in San Antonio, TX.
She was named a Brazosport College Distinguished Alumna in 2005.
During this year’s commencement, Brazosport College will also recognize its most recent distinguished alumna, Stacey Nolan.
After dropping out of school at age 16 and briefly living out of her car, Nolan turned her life around and earned a GED and an Associate Degree of Nursing from Brazosport College. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing. Today, after 20 years in the medical field, Nolan has assisted on various medical mission trips and has dedicated her life to helping others.
Nolan and Grandjean are two of BC’s 11 Distinguished Alumni members. Other Distinguished Alumni include Harry Koester Jr., Robert Garcia, James Brown, Shane Pirtle, Lucilla Henderson, Shawn Baker, Allyn Noblitt, Marc Holder and Al Olvera.
